Loire Valley

The Loire Valley wine-growing region stretches the length of the river itself, from the Atlantic Coast to the Massif Central in the heart of France. It encompasses myriad terroirs and almost as many styles of wine, but is best known for its whites: Sauvignon Blanc from appellations such as Sancerre, and Chenin Blanc from Vouvray and Montlouis. Cabernet Franc from the Centre Loire (including Saumur) is the star attraction in terms of red wine. The Loire is at once one of the world’s most traditional and forward-thinking wine regions, a hot bed of ambitious new producers for who sustainability is a non-negotiable.
