2022 Volnay 1er Cru Clos du Verseuil Monopole, Domaine Yvon Clerget

This small monopole Clos is only about half a hectare in total, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. Its soil is made up of lots of broken chalk which drains very well. However, the roots of these old vines, which are between 45 and 70 years old, are deep and negate any risk of hydric stress. This is very fine, aromatic and very elegant, with a refined and rather stylish but understated structure. Everything here is destemmed as the stoney minerality provides each freshness and definition on its own. Very Volnay and very lovely. Drink from 2028
