2023 Gevrey-Chambertin En Pallud, Marchand Tawse

This small vineyard sits just below the Grand Cru of Mazis Chambertin. The vines here are very old and yields were consequently quite small which meant that full maturation was reached easily. In fact this cuvée ended up having the highest degrees of the whole range, though still only 13.6. It’s quite a brooding, slightly darker-fruited wine that needs time. It is layered, concentrated and really rather substantial, especially so for a village wine. Excellent potential. Drink from 2029
