2018 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Climat du Val, Domaine Lafouge

The Lafouge family have been making wine in Auxey since the 17th century, so they know a thing or two about the terroir here, including the 0.4-hectare, south-west-facing Climat du Val. The estate has been given fresh impetus by the return of Gilles Lafouge’s talented son Maxime, who is gradually assuming greater responsibility. Auxey Duresses is traditionally a little cooler than the rest of the Côte de Beaune and in the warm 2018 vintage this was very favourable for the wines, giving a little extra freshness!
