2023 Mercurey Clos du Chapitre, Domaine Charton

Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy, France

Pierre Charton founded the domaine during World War II, in 1941. Today, it stands at 12 hectares and is run by Pierre’s grandson, Vincent, who succeeded his father Jean-Pierre a few years ago. Vincent works really hard in the vineyard, realising that the quality begins here. Clos du Chapitre is a 1.95ha parcel mostly planted on limestone soils. 2023 vintage, with optimal weather conditions has produced perfectly ripe grapes, whilst retaining a lovely acidity. 100% destemmed, with about 25% new oak, this cuvee is harmonious and balanced, displaying delicate notes of fresh cherries, with some floral notes and a hint of sweet spice from oak.
